Teenagers 'live streamed themselves beating girl to death on Facebook' (2024)

Two school girls have been arrested after a 19-year-old girl was brutally beaten to death and the video allegedlyposted on Facebook.

Police are investigating whether footage that reportedly appeared on the social media site for several hours showed Serena McKay being beaten to death.

The 19-year-old was found dead on the Sagkeeng First Nation reserve near Winnipeg in Canada on April 23.

Two girls, aged 16 and 17, who went to Sagkeeng Anicinabe High School with Serena according toCBC,have been arrested in connection with the murder.

The footage, which is too graphic to include on this site, shows ateenager being savagely punched and kicked as she lies helplessly on the ground.

At one point the girl on the flooris heard to sob and tell her attackers ‘I’m so sorry’.

However, she is beaten until she goes limp, at which point her attackers stamp on her head.

Police investigating the footage told IBT that it is too early to confirm whether the girl in the video is Serena.

The news comes after Steve Stephens shot pensioner Robert Godwin during a Facebook Live in Cleveland last month.

A Facebook spokesperson toldCBC: ‘This was a horrific tragedy, and our hearts go out to the family and friends of Ms. McKay.

‘We have not been able to locate the video on Facebook, and are working with law enforcement as they investigate.’
