Sunday was a mostly rough day for the Mets’ minor league affiliates, with just Brooklyn winning their game. Syracuse and Binghamton fell in low-scoring affairs, while St. Lucie was blown out in their loss. Among the best efforts on Sunday was a three-hit day fromLuisangel Acuña, who is looking better and better at the plate. In addition to his three hits, he drove in both of Syracuse’s runs in their loss.

Triple-A

Rochester Red Wings (38-35) 3, Syracuse Mets (46-28) 2

BOX SCORE

  • SS Luisangel Acuña: 3-for-4, 2B (11), 2 RBI (26) (.702 OPS)
  • 1B Luke Ritter: 1-for-4 (.873 OPS)
  • DH Mike Brosseau: 2-for-4, K (.855 OPS)
  • 3B Pablo Reyes: 1-for-4, R, K (.917 OPS)

The Syracuse Mets fell to the Rochester Red Wings 3-2 on what was an uncharacteristically slow offensive day. The game was over in the first inning after Rochester ambushed Syracuse for three runs. The Mets were unable to come back despite chipping into their deficit, with both of their two runs scoring on a Luisangel Acuña single in the second inning. The final seven innings saw both teams stay off the board, resulting in a 3-2 loss for Syracuse.

  • RHP Blade Tidwell (L, 0-2): 6 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, K (5.00 ERA)
  • LHP Tyler Jay: 2 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 K (2.06 ERA)
  • RHP Max Kranick: 1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 BB, K (3.25 ERA)

After Blade Tidwell surrendered three runs in the first inning, he managed to get through the next five innings without allowing another run. That gave him a quality start of six innings allowing three earned runs, but he drew the loss due to the inability of the offense to get anything going. Tyler Jay and Max Kranick pitched for a combined three scoreless innings to finish the game, lowering their already-great season ERAs.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (35-32) 0, Akron RubberDucks (37-32) 1

BOX SCORE

  • CF Matt Rudick: 1-for-3, 2B (11), K (.680 OPS)
  • RF Alex Ramírez: 1-for-3 (.679 OPS)
  • C Kevin Parada: 1-for-2, 2B (9) (.653 OPS)
  • DH Jeremiah Jackson: 1-for-2, 2B (9) (.632 OPS)

The game between the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and Akron RubberDucks was cut short on Sunday due to rain. The teams only managed to get four-and-a-half innings in, and Akron was declared the winner up 1-0 after the team’s couldn’t continue. Despite not scoring, Binghamton recorded three of their four hits for extra bases. They went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position, unable to drive anybody in.

  • RHP Tyler Stuart (L, 2-6): 4 IP, ER, 5 H, 0 BB, 4 K (4.72 ERA)

Tyler Stuart was the only pitcher to appear in this game for Binghamton. He pitched well, allowing an earned run in four innings, but he still drew the loss to drop his record on the season to 2-6. Stuart pitched to a 3.60 ERA in seven starts with Binghamton a season ago but has not yet lived up to that level this season. In his last two starts, though, Stuart has a 3.00 ERA.

High-A

Jersey Shore BlueClaws (40-29) 3, Brooklyn Cyclones (34-35) 7

BOX SCORE

  • CF Nick Morabito: 2-for-4, 2B (7) (.767 OPS)

The Brooklyn Cyclones defeated the Jersey Shore BlueClaws 7-3 during Sunday’s game. It was a solid day for the offense, with the team scoring seven runs on 10 hits (four extra-base hits). The Cyclones went up 3-0 early, and that was the score for most of the game until Jersey Shore tied it up going into the bottom of the eighth. The Cyclones’ offense then exploded for four runs with four separate RBI hits to put the game away.

  • RHP Douglas Orellana: 1/3 IP, 0 ER, H, BB, K (1.47 ERA)
  • LHP Felipe De La Cruz: 2 2/3 IP, 0 ER, H, 2 BB, 3 K (3.81 ERA)

  • RHP Josh Hejka (W, 1-2) (BS, 1): 2 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, BB, 3 K (1.93 ERA)

Six separate pitchers made appearances for Brooklyn, with two of them recording just one out. For Orellana, who started the game, it was due to a pitch count as he was just activated from the injured list. De La Cruz, Simon and Stevenson pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings of relief following Orellana’s departure. Colon and Hejka were not as successful on the mound, but the offense did enough to bail them out.

Joel Díaz couldn’t make it out of the second inning, having given up seven earned runs in 1 2/3 innings. Gregori Louis did great to control the Fort Myers offense, throwing 3 1/3 hitless innings, before Juan Arnaud imploded for six runs (five earned) in 1 1/3 innings pitched. Alan Perdomo and Eduardo Herrera finished the game by allowing one run in 2 2/3 innings but it was beyond a blowout at this point.
