Eva Mullins

Owner/Funeral Director/Embalmer

Eva was born in Abilene, Texas to Siprino and Teodora (Moreno) Mendez, but raised in Baird, Texas where she graduated from Baird High School in 1990. She immediately left Baird to attend school in Dallas, at the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, graduating in 1991-1992 with a degree in Mortuary Science and becoming licensed through the Texas Funeral Service Commission with a Funeral Directors and Embalmers license. Eva has held various positions in the funeral industry in her 30 years of being licensed; from an embalmer to managing funeral homes to now, she and her husband being owners. In 2004 she and her husband, Mike founded Colonial Funeral Home in Dimmitt, Texas. Dimmitt became their home, where they raised their only child, Baylee. Eva was very involved in the community of Dimmitt. She was a member of the Rotary Club, a past President and Secretary for PTO, a past secretary for the Castro County Child Welfare Board, a member of the Alphi-Chi Omega Sorority, a past board member of the Texas Panhandle Funeral Directors Association, the Executive Director for the Castro County Chamber of Commerce and she and her husband were members of the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt.

In 2011, she and her husband had the opportunity to purchase the funeral home in Friona, Texas, Blackwell Funeral Home, in what was Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home. They owned and operated this location till 2014, selling the funeral home to one of their employees, Dusty Hansard. Again, God made it possible for Mike and Eva to open Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home in Hereford, Texas in 2016. Shortly thereafter, Mike and Eva decided to move to Hereford and make Hereford their new home. Eva has become very involved in the Hereford Community. She is a past board member and past Secretary for CASA, a past Vice-President and currently the President for the Hereford Senior Citizens, a member and past Historian for L'Allegra Study Group, a board member and currently the Secretary for Leadership Hereford, a past board member and a current hustler of the Deaf Smith Chamber of Commerce, and a board member and Director of the Hereford Pilot Club. Eva and Mike are members of the First Baptist Church of Hereford. Eva has always stated that "my husband and I are just managing the funeral homes, we give God all the Glory and Praise while He works through us for the families we serve."

Mike Mullins

Owner/Funeral Director/Embalmer

Mike was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas graduating from Tascosa High School in 1986. Attended Amarillo College before moving to Dallas to attend the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, graduating in 1991. Mike has held various positions within the funeral profession in his 30th year as a licensed funeral director. In 2004 he and his wife founded Colonial Funeral Home in Dimmitt, Texas. Through his years in the funeral profession he has served on the board of directors for various businesses and organizations. In 1996 he was asked to serve on the Advisory Board Committee for Amarillo Colleges Mortuary Science Program, and a past board member of the Panhandle Funeral Directors Association. He has served as a board member of the Dimmitt Chamber of Commerce, Castro County Farm Bureau, he is a member of the Dimmitt Lions Club, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt.

In 2011, he and his wife Eva were given the opportunity to purchase the funeral home in Friona, Texas, Blackwell Funeral Home, in what is now Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home. Yet again, God made it possible for Mike and Eva to open Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home in Hereford, Texas in 2016 andthey then decided to make Hereford their home. Mikehas become involved in the community by being on the Hereford's Gun Club team, a member of the Hereford's Lion Club and a member and board member of the First Baptist Church of Hereford's Financial Committee.

Mike's comment is "God has been very good to me and my family and we owe Him all the Glory."

Macy Lopez

Funeral Director/Embalmer

Macy was born and raised in Hereford, Texas graduating from Hereford High School in 2001. She married Jeremy Lopez of Hereford, Texas and together they have 3 children, Jude, Javen and Jolie. Macy worked in EMS for 10 years, as a Nationally Recognized EMT, Nationally Recognized Paramedic, Flight Paramedic, EMT Instructor and as the Hereford EMS Director for 3 years. She is a member of the First Baptist Church and Hereford Kiwanis Club.

Macy graduated from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in 2021 with a degree in Mortuary Science and is licensed through the Texas Funeral Service commission as a Funeral Director and Embalmer.

Uriah Cepeda

Funeral Director

Uriah J. Cepeda was born and raised in Hereford, Texas. He is the son of Emmanuel and Monica Cepeda, Wanda Casarez. He has dedicated his life to funeral service since the age of seventeen. He was the Vice president of his graduating class of 2018, graduating from Hereford High.

Uriah attended the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in 2018, when he started his education and shortly after transferred to Amarillo College Mortuary Science Program where he completed his education in 2021. Uriah obtained his Cremation Operator Certificate in 2019. Uriah has over five years of experience with pre-arrangements/pr-needs and has been an agent since 2018. Uriah also has experience with Headstone designing. Uriah received his Funeral Director license in 2023 from the Texas Funeral Service Commission.

Uriah was a past Vice President of the Hereford Rotary Club, a past member of the Hereford Hustler Committee for the Hereford Chamber of Commerce, a past board member of the Rotary Club of Amarillo.

Uriah enjoyed his time in Amarillo by helping organizations such as Snack Pak 4 Kids of Amarillo and Meals on wheels.

Uriah is a member of the Trinity Fellowship Church. Uriah believes the Lord has led him down this path to help serve the families of Hereford and surrounding areas.

Joe Aguirre

Funeral Associate

Jose Aguirre has been a resident of Hereford, Texas since 1965. He graduated High School from San Benito High School. Jose served in the United States Army where he fought in the Korean War. He served his country for 9 years. He retired from the United States Postal Service here in Hereford, Texas as a letter carrier after 30 years. He has been in the funeral profession helping assist with services for more than 15 years. He is married to Gertrude Luna Aguirre and has been for 55 years. He and Gertrude are members of San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford, Texas. Jose has been employed with all three locations, Colonial Funeral Home in Dimmitt, Texas, Blackwell-Mullins in Friona, Texas and Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home for several years.

Debbie Gonzalez

Receptionist/Pre-Need Associate

Debbie was born and raised in Hereford, Texas. Debbie has been blessed with three children and five grandchildren which she loves to spend time with. Debbie has been employed with First Financial Bank for 40 years and works in the Treasury Management Department consisting of Remote Deposits, Direct Deposits, Payroll Cards, Merchant Credit Card Services and Business Online Banking; Debbie loves her job because she has the pleasure of meeting new customers and gets the opportunity to visit with her customers. Debbie is a member of Hereford Kiwanis Club, Cancer Coalition and the Medical Equipment Drive.

Debbie has been with Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home since February of 2017 assisting families in the evening during a visitation or rosary, helping families purchase headstones and pre-need funeral plans. Debbie enjoys working with Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home, because she loves helping people and building life-long relationships.

Ashlie Henderson

Receptionist/Funeral Associate

Ashlie was born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in Pampa, Texas. She is married to Donnie Henderson and together they have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Ashlie has been a resident of Hereford for 34 years. Ashlie has worked in the HVAC business, the dairy industry, and now in the agriculture business. Ashlie works part-time or as needed in the funeral home and finds it very interesting and also loves the people that she works with here at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.

Theo Mendez-Mullins

Grief Therapy Dog

Meet Our Newest Staff Member Theo; he is our hypoallergenic Golden Doodle Grief Therapy Dog. Theo will be attending Obedience and Therapy School as soon as he is old enough. We hope that Theo will bring comfort to our grieving families and their children and ease the pain, confusion, stress, and anxiety that come from losing a loved one, even if it is just for a moment. After training, Theo will be able to sense a person’s emotional needs and act on it with unconditional love. We want Theo to be a part of the care and attention we have for the families we service and their path to healthy healing. Theo has stolen our hearts already and we know he will bring a calming loving presence into our funeral home.
