Choosing a name for your new bubba is one of the biggest decisions a parent has to make.
But it seems there's some standout choices amongst Aussie parents this year.
McCrindle has done the research and scoured the country once again to find the top ten boy and girl baby names for 2024.
Read on to see which names have stayed in the top spots, and which new ones have emerged as popular choices over the last year.

10. Jack
Starting out the top boys' names for 2024 is Jack.
Jack has moved down from its sixth position in 2023.
Jackson, which can be used as a longer version of Jack, also scored a spot in the top 100 for 2024, placing 60th.

9. Charlie
Coming in ninth for a second year in a row is Charlie.
While Charlie ranked in the top boys names category, it can also be used as a gender neutral name or even used as a nickname for Charles.

8. William
William has stayed in the top 10 once again, though it has dropped from its fourth position in 2023.
William is one of the classic names on the list and has some famous namesakes, like William, Prince of Wales.
It can also be shortened to Will or even Billy, which ranked 54th in 2024.

7. Luca
Luca climbed up the ranks for the 2024 top baby names list.
After placing tenth in 2023, Luca has become an increasingly popular boy name over the last 12 months, now ranking seventh.

6. Hudson
Another name to rank higher compared to last year is Hudson.
Hudson placed sixth in 2024 with 1,180 occurrences.

5. Theodore
Coming in at number five on the 2024 list - and moving up two spots compared to last year - is Theodore.
Meanwhile Theo also placed in the top 100 at 36.

4. Leo
Leo has proved to be a favourite among Aussie parents once again.
After placing third last year, Leo has stayed in the top ten for 2024.
The name can also be used as an abbreviation of Leonardo - as in Leonardo DiCaprio or Da Vinci -which ranked 94th separately on this year's list.

3. Henry
Starting off the top three is another classic name: Henry.
Henry appears to have jumped in popularity over the last 12 months after ranking fifth in 2023.

2. Noah
Placing second with 1,685 occurrences in 2024 is Noah.
The classic name is a clear Aussie favourite after coming in second place last year as well.

1. Oliver
Taking the gold for the 11th consecutive year is Oliver.
Oliver had a whopping 1,906 occurrences across the country in 2024.
Ollie, which can be a nickname for Oliver, also proved to be popular this year after ranking 84th on the boy names list.
And now for the girls' names...

10. Hazel
Starting off the top 10 girls names for 2024 is Hazel.
This year marks the first time the gorgeous name has cracked the top 10, knocking out Willow, Ella and Grace from last year's list.
The name even comes celebrity-certified after Emily Blunt and John Krasinki named one of their daughters Hazel.

9. Lily
A floral-inspired girls name ranking among the favourites for Aussie babies in 2024 is Lily – specifically spelt with one letter 'l'.
Meanwhile, the name spelt with two letter L's (Lilly) was booted out of the top 100 this year.

8. Harper
Coming in at number eight on the top girls name list is Harper.
The popular name has even got the Matildas team stamp of approval.
Star player Katrina Gorry's daughter Harper became beloved by Aussies across the country during the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
David and Victoria Beckham's daughter is also called Harper.
The name has also featured in the top 10 in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

7. Matilda
Just like in 2023, Matilda has once again placed seventh in the top Aussie girl names.
The popularity of the name this year might have something to do with the Matildas mania that took over the country during the Women's World Cup - and is carrying on into the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

6. Ava
With 916 occurrences across the country, Ava has taken out the sixth top girl name spot for 2024.
Ava also ranked in sixth place in 2023.

5. Mia
Another name staying in the same spot as last year is Mia.
Mia can also be a sweet choice of nickname for names such as Maria or Amelia – just like in The Princess Diaries.

4. Olivia
Olivia stayed in fourth place for the second year in a row.
While Oliver took out the top boy name, Olivia had an impressive 1157 occurrences in 2024.

2. Charlotte
After ranking as the top girl name across Australia in 2023, Charlotte has respectably placed third this year.
Charlotte has remained a popular name over the years, potentially with inspiration from the royal family and current shows such as Bridgerton.

2. Amelia
The runner up girl name for 2024 is none other than Amelia with 1,206 occurrences.
Millie as a shortened name for Amelia also ranked 32 on the list this year.
