27/7/2022 11:57 | The positive outlook is the winning story today, the boost from higher interest rates is better than rising impairments and that is set to continue, actually things should get even better provided the economy/employment keeps up. The slight puzzle and disappointment is that despite significant share consolidation the NAV per share has dipped to 54.8p from 57.5p six months ago, the very opposite of what the buyback is supposed to achieve. I think caused by a sharp decline in the risk-weighted value of assets. The taxman should be happy too, £835M from 6 months trading is one heck of a contribution to UK plc. A welcome rise in interim dividend to 0.8p so that means expect a 1.6p final. What nuggets in the detail? | ![]() marktime1231

27/7/2022 11:02 | we really do need the share price to be below 45p IMO after all we do still have c£500M worth of buyback to spend ... therefore could I ask that people dig deep for any negative news regarding the Q2 results to try and get the share price back down.. I'm struggling myself to find anything negative to say... Thanks in advance ... | ![]() richie1218

27/7/2022 09:29 | Gecko, she was a remoaner but has seen her error from the way the EUSSR has behaved since the dreadful Treason May deal. When looking at the two candidates, Liz comes across as more the real deal, whereas Rishi seems a well polished light weight, who bends whichever way the wind blows. Indeed he has today changed his tune on taxes, and this is a bloke who has been the chancellor!!! for gawd knows how long. He has absolutely no ideas of his own, to my mind he is an actor, in a similar moould to Trudeau. A man with a Green Card get out clause, he'll be alright no matter what mess he might create. Yes Liz is not a slick TV personality, she won't turn into a Trudeau, to my mind she's the best chance the country has of standing on it's own feet again, and perhaps once again becoming the country that built itself upon trade. | ![]() lefrene
27/7/2022 09:28 | Rishi is a typical oily Goldman liar. Very bright, but with slithery tendencies. Truss, at least is a true Conservative which places her in the appropriate half of the pitch, and in her case, pretty close to the oppositions’s goal mouth. Upon winning, she should proceed to appoint John Redwood as either her Chancellor, or special economic advisor à la Alan Walters. The combination would be Conservatives with brains and backbones. We last saw that in November 1990. Has Norman Tebbit fully retired? - I’m sure there are still tasks he could be put to work on. He could reinstate the “cricket test” - something Arja would surely fail. But then, Arja would fail any test. | ![]() psychochopper
27/7/2022 09:19 | Note 20: Dividends on ordinary shares An interim dividend for 2022 of 0.80 pence per ordinary share (half-year to 30 June 2021: 0.67 pence per ordinary share) will be paid on 12 September 2022. The total amount of this dividend is GBP550 million, before the impact of any further cancellations of shares under the Group's buyback programme (half-year to 30 June 2021: GBP473 million). On 19 May 2022, a final dividend in respect of 2021 of 1.33 pence per share, totalling GBP930 million, following cancellations of shares under the Group's buyback programme up to the record date, was paid to shareholders. Shareholders who have already joined the dividend reinvestment plan will automatically receive shares instead of the cash dividend. Key dates for the payment of the recommended dividend are: Shares quoted ex-dividend 4 August 2022 Record date 5 August 2022 Final date for joining or leaving the dividend reinvestment 12 September | ![]() stonedyou
27/7/2022 09:17 | Scruff She's a Remoaner, she hasn't a scooby do (only thing she was good at was post Brexit trade - where she should have stayed) All politicians are out to line their own pockets. It's even worse in the US. She may be making all the noises that appeal to you but does she believe what she is saying? My money is on her saying what she thinks will win her the leadership. Doubt she, like most politicians, believe in much other than staying on the gravy train. | ![]() geckotheglorious
27/7/2022 09:16 | To my mind Liz cares about the country, and has an understanding that lower tax can actually bring in higher revenues, she seems to exhibit little vanity, whereas Rishi is vanity personified. Why this has to drag on until Sept 5 is what I don't understand! Rishi would just be more of the same old, same old, Liz will at least have a go at meaningful changes if the Mandarins don't scupper her. | ![]() lefrene
27/7/2022 08:57 | Lefrene, Liz believes in lining her pockets - that is all. Neither of these candidates inspire any confidence. Even less so than when we were offered Johnson or Hunt. Surely there are more suitable candidates amongst the British populace? Local Constituencies need to be able to choose their own candidates rather than have central office foist them on the former. This is why we continue to get lacklustre untalented shysters. | ![]() geckotheglorious |
